Federal Filings

IRS Form 990

Almost all charitable nonprofits recognized as tax-exempt by the IRS are required to file an annual report known as the "Form 990."

This form serves as a comprehensive overview of our organization's finances, activities, and governance. The IRS Form 990 is considered a public document and is accessible through various means:

  • GuideStar: You can easily access our most recent IRS Form 990 on GuideStar, a trusted platform for nonprofit transparency.
  • Request from Us: In accordance with IRS "public disclosure" regulations, you may request a copy of our Form 990 directly from the Gratitude and Grace Foundation. We are committed to providing this information upon request.

IRS Form 990-N ("Postcard")

Small nonprofits with annual receipts of $50,000 or less have the option to use the IRS Form 990-N, often referred to as the "postcard."

This simplified form still fulfills our reporting obligations to the IRS  while offering a streamlined approach for organizations with limited resources.

State Filings

In addition to federal filings, most states require nonprofit corporations to submit annual reports or registrations.

These state-specific requirements typically fall into one or more of the following categories:

  • Corporate Filings: These filings maintain our nonprofit's legal status within the state.
  • Financial Reports: These reports offer insight into our financial activities within the state.
  • Fundraising Registrations: Ensuring compliance with charitable solicitation regulations.
  • State Tax-Exemption Filings: If applicable, we also file for state tax-exempt status.

It's important to note that requirements vary from state to state.

Many state associations of nonprofits provide helpful summaries of the specific filing requirements applicable to nonprofits in their respective states.
